I am especially interested in personal development, creativity, stress management, and education, and in the use of Ericksonian hypnotherapy, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and the novel field of Psycho-Chaotic Semiotics (PCS). Other areas of interest and expertise are listed above, but I am happy to work together with all clients to achieve their desired goals.
I strongly believe that anyone can benefit from the “helping hand” offered by therapy, and that you do not have to be “broken” or “damaged” to gain from the therapeutic process. Nor does this process have to be “frightening” or “painful” in order to achieve lasting success. Hypnotherapy can provide a natural, relaxing, and potentially “fun” way to achieve many different goals relatively quickly and painlessly in a “client-centred” and “non-prescriptive” way.
I work actively and respectfully with clients at their own pace and in their own way, to discover and change limiting patterns of thought and behaviour, and creatively craft novel modes of being, thinking and doing.
In achieving these goals I seek to enhance my creativity and that of my clients through insights gained from anthropology, art, language, literature, mythology, and philosophy, and any others fields, as appropriate.
I hold the Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma (HPD); I am Fellow of the Royal Society for Public Health (FRSPH); a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine; a Member of the National Council of Psychotherapists (MNCP); a Registered Member of the National Council for Hypnotherapy (MNCH(Reg)); and a Licensed Master Practitioner of Neuro-linguistic Programming (MPNLP). I am a Registered Member of the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC).
I hold a BA (Hons), CertPgSt and MA from Cambridge University and an MA from Oxford University (all in Natural Sciences); and a PhD from Birmingham University in Mathematical Chemistry. I have previously worked for 11 years as a University Senior Lecturer in Mathematics, whilst simultaneously training in Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy, and have carried out and published research in mathematics and science.
I am a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Arts (FRSA); and a Fellow of the Royal Anthropological Institute (FRAI).
I have published widely in the therapeutic use of all the ideas and techniques discussed above.
